Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Max Halladay Hammond, 77, passed away December 16, 1992 in Salt Lake City of complications following surgery.

He was born in Blackfoot, Idaho to Albert L. and Ethel Halladay Hammond Nov. 11, 1915. He married Afton Olsen July 29, 1936. With Afton, his sweetheart and companion of 56 years, he loved the neighboring canyons and streams. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the warmth of many friendships. He owned and operated "My Brother's Place" coffee shop for 16 years; worked for Continental Baking Company for 21 years. Member of the LDS Church, also a World War II Veteran, and a kind, loving, husband and father.Surviving are his wife Afton; daughter, sons, and their spouses, Marla and Dutch Vandermyde; Curtis P. and Heidi, all of Salt Lake City; Robert Max and Shirley, Ariz.; Scott W. and Deborah, Oceanside, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday,

December 19, 1992, 1 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 So. (Bengal Blvd.) where friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services.

Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates.
