A memorial service in celebration of Phil's life will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, January 2, 1993, at Holladay United Church of Christ, 2631 Murray-Holladay Road.

Philip Junior Granere was born in Fullerton, Nebraska, on January 16, 1925, to Carl Philip Gustav and Beulah Frances Sidders Granere. He passed away Tuesday, December 29, 1992. Phil lived in Fullerton until 1942 when he moved with his parents to Inglewood, Calif. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943. He was married January 19, 1946, to Shirley Rae Johnson.Phil's 40-year career in Property and Casualty Insurance culminated with his organization and management of Western Colonial General Agency, a subsidiary of Scottsdale Insurance Company. He served on the board of Surplus Lines of Utah, actively participated in national insurance organizations and was an acitve member of the Holladay United Church of Christ.

Phil had a gift for recognizing our individual qualities and giving a lift to our spirits.

He is survived by his wife, Shirl; sons, Gary, Houston, Texas; and David, Sandy; daughter, Judy, Salt Lake City; daughters-in-law, Sheron and Christine; son-in-law, Bob Swain; and grandchildren, Michele and Sean Granere; Heidi, Mathew and Philip Granere; and Sara, Kate and Robert Swain. He is also survived by his sister, Lillian Keniry, Manhattan Beach, Calif.; and brothers, Carl, Fort Morgan, Colorado; Clyde, Grand Junction, Colorado; special family members, Betty, Rich and Alta, and many caring nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother, Frederick.

The family is especially grateful to Dr. Kent Difiore who led the fight for these additional years, to Sharon McLaughlin, R.N. for her dedication and to Rollie Wiegers who gave Phil the opportunity to live these years to the fullest.

A memorial fund in Phil's name has been established at Holladay United Church of Christ.
