Rudolph Valentino, the great romantic movie star of the silent era who died in his prime and at the peak of his stardom, is the subject of the Organ Loft's program Thursday, Feb. 13.
"The Son of the Sheik," Valentino's last film, is the main event, to be presented with live organ accompaniment by Mike Ohman on the mighty Wurlitzer Theater Organ. The tongue-in-cheek romantic adventure, a sequel to his enormously popular "The Sheik," has Valentino in two roles and co-stars Vilma Banky. In addition, the only known recording of Valentino's singing voice will be played, a record he made in 1923 (provided by the Brigham Young University archives).
The program begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Organ Loft, 3331 Edison Street (east of State Street just off 3300 South). Admission is $5. Phone 485-9265 for reservations or further information.
