Colleen Kerr, 73, of Salt Lake City, has been named a western regional winner in the annual Dove Model-Beautiful Skin Contest.
Kerr was selected from among nearly 9,000 women who entered the contest designed to spotlight women over 30 with beautiful skin.Peter Waxman, assistant product manager at Lever Brothers (manufacturer of Dove), said the Dove Model-Beautiful Skin Contest and the Dove Classic Model Discovery Contest are part of Dove Beauty of women over 30.
When she entered the contest, Kerr wrote, "I've used Dove Beauty Bar for over 30 years." Even at age 73, perfect strangers still walk up and compliment her on her beautiful skin.
In addition to cleansing twice a day with Dove, she maintains her beautiful skin by eating healthy foods and walking for exercise.
A retired employee of the state's public safety office, Kerr enjoys painting as well as spending time with her husband of 53 years, three children and nine grandchildren.

- Cover Girl Cosmetics is now conducting its annual model search for the loveliest high school girl in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Now in its 31st year, the contest is open to teenage girls in grades 7-12.
Finalists will enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City. The winner will receive a $5,000 modeling fee and appear on the cover of November's YM magazine.

- A new "Mikli" line of sunglasses will be launched on Thursday, Feb. 27, in the women's accessory department of downtown Nordstrom. Alain Mikli will make a personal appearance from noon to 2 p.m.
