The Kennedy family's compound in Palm Beach, Fla., will be open to the public for the first time ever this month. It will be the site for a charity fund-raiser Feb. 28 to benefit the Best Buddies of America program, which pairs college students with the mentally retarded. The program was founded in 1987 by Anthony Shriver, the son of Sargent and Eunice Shriver. Palm Beach officials aren't sure the reception is a good idea, coming on the heels of the rape trial and acquittal of William Kennedy Smith.
