A 22-year-old Payson man received only minor injuries when his car was struck by a Union Pacific train Thursday. Andee J. Whitsitt, 683 S. 100 East, was eastbound at 368 N. Draper Lane. He slowed for a stop sign at the crossing and then proceeded across the tracks. The train, which was traveling 26 mph, struck the car. The accident caused about $4,000 damage to Whitsitt's vehicle. Provo paramedics transported Whitsitt to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for minor cuts and bruises and released. Provo police cited Whitsitt for failure to yield and for having no car insurance.
