A South Carolina woman who came to Italy aspiring to be a top fashion model left prison Saturday after serving time for the murder of a Roman playboy. Last month, a judge announced he was taking time off Terry Broome's sentence for good behavior.
Broome said goodbye to the prison staff in the northern Italian city of Bergamo and left in a taxi, accompanied by her sister. She declined to say when she would be returning to the United States.Broome had sought a modeling career in Milan but never made it big. Instead, she won notoriety for killing racehorse owner Francesco D'Alessio in 1984 while under the influence of cocaine. She was sentenced to 14 years in 1986.
