Louis Alfred Gladwell, former director of public relations and alumni services at Weber State College, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 1992. He was 81.
Mr. Gladwell retired from the college position in 1979. He was the first full-time news writer and news director at Weber State and also served as program bureau director and speaker's bureau director.Before that, Mr. Gladwell worked for the Ogden Standard Examiner for 20 years and was also on the staff of the South Bay Daily Breeze in Redondo Beach, Calif.
Mr. Gladwell was selected as an Outstanding Alumnus of Weber State College in 1982 and received a Distinguished Service Award from the department of the performing arts in 1989. He served on the Emeritus Alumni Council at the college for four years and was one of five people who wrote the history of South Ogden.
Mr. Gladwell graduated from Weber High and Weber State College. He served in the Navy during World War II.
Funeral will be Monday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. at Leavitt's Chapel of Flowers Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
