Coming off its high score of the year (192.25), and a nearly two-week lay-off, BYU's 10th-ranked women's gymnastics team hosts third-ranked Oregon State Saturday night.

"The layoff has helped in some aspects," says Cougar coach Brad Cattermole. "It has allowed us to heal up some nagging injuries and rest from the hectic early schedule we had. But on the downside, when a team gets into a groove of competing every week it's hard to practice without having the competition coming right up."The Cougars started the season scoring in the 185 range, but have improved steadily to hit in the 190s in two of their last three meets.

The top all-around score for the Cougars this season belongs to senior Korie Jackman (38.80). Highlights of the year so far include freshman Nanette Thornock's school record 9.90 on vault, senior Tammy Packard's BYU record tying 9.80 on beam, and a new team school record on beam (48.20).
