The Navy contract is to build 120 "pendulous integrating gyroscopic accelerometers," which are part of the guidance system for the Trident II D-5 missiles on nuclear submarines.Litton's Salt Lake Division has produced 400 such devices since 1986, valued at $74.1 million.

Hatch, who announced the contract, said, "The Salt Lake plant is one of the finest advanced technology production centers in the country. I am especially delighted that we can keep this highly skilled work force in place for several more years."
