A sailor from the U.S. aircraft carrier Independence was killed during a street brawl in Tokyo, Japanese police said Monday.

A spokesman said another sailor from the Independence was in U.S. custody in connection with the incident, which occurred in the Roppongi entertainment district early on Sunday.The Japanese spokesman identified the victim, who died of stab wounds, as Jermaine Kevin Reed, 19, of New York City.
