The groundhog took a quick glance at his shadow outside his tree stump condo Sunday, then had his interpreter break the bad news to a record crowd of about 3,000 shivering people who had come from as far away as Australia. The 14 members of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club's Inner Circle decide in advance what Phil's forecast will be.
