The danger now is the almost inevitable letdown. After beating the World Champion Chicago Bulls Monday night in Salt Lake, the Jazz return to the mundane world of the Sacramento Kings for a Wednesday contest at ARCO Arena.
The Jazz went through a half-hour workout Tuesday morning and departed in the afternoon for Sacramento. The Jazz already have two wins over the Kings so far this year, having won 106-90 and 124-105 in the Delta Center."Yesterday doesn't mean anything," said Jazz Coach Jerry Sloan. "Actually (the Sacramento game) is bigger because of the standings part. They play in the Western Conference and it's a conference game."
The road game will be the second of only four road games the Jazz have in February. The others are on a two-game swing to Portland and the L.A. Clippers at the end of the month. It is also the Jazz's final outing before the All-Star break.
The Jazz, 31-17, lead the Midwest Division while Sacramento, 15-31, is last in the Pacific. Tipoff is at 8:30 (MST) and the game will be shown on PSN cable.
Guard John Stockton needs 11 assists to pass Guy Rodgers for the No. 7 spot on the NBA's all-time assist list.
