Fourteen high school and 12 junior college players have made verbal commitments to play for Southern Utah next year.
"We feel we covered our needs; we were able to get some height and size," Wayne McQuivey, offensive coordinator, said.Graduation left significant holes in offensive and defensive lines this year. Helping to shore up these positions are four junior college and two high school offensive linemen and five high school and two junior college defensive linemen.
Among the new offensive linemen will be 6-foot-4, 275-pound James Brown of St. George's Pine View High and Snow College, and 6-foot-5, 265-pound Randy Collins of Taylorsville High and Dixie College.
The defensive front includes 6-4, 250-pound Chris Hester of Ben Lomond High, 6-foot-2, 240-pound Nick Gibson of Judge Memorial, 6-3, 245-pound Trent Jenkins of Woods Cross and defensive ends 6-4, 230-pound Jim Langford of Mountain View and 6-3, 225-pound Chris Hinton of Las Vegas Western High School.
