UTAH OPERA'S `TOSCA' IS A RECORD BREAKER

Utah Opera's recent "Tosca" was its most successful production ever, said general director Anne Ewers, with close to 100 percent attendance, including standing room, for all five performances. Ticket sales totaled $166,706, also a record, with revenue from single ticket sales exceeding budget projections by 19 percent.

Season ticket sales was another record-setting area, with 5,277 subscribers for the 1991-92 season, a 9 percent increase over last year.The season's opening "Samson et Dalilah" also joined the ranks of the most attended operas in Utah Opera's 14-year history, ranking No. 5. Other audience favorites in order of preference were "Tosca" 1992; "The Magic Flute" 1987; "Don Giovanni," 1990; and "Rigoletto," 1990.
