Jason Jackman of Hurricane, Region 10's most valuable player, hit five of six from the line in the final minutes of the Region 10 championship game Saturday night to lead his Tigers over San Juan 65-62.

Jackman, who totaled 26 on the night, sat out part of the second half after getting into foul trouble. The 6-foot-7 senior then came off the bench to team up with Mitch Bringhurst to keep Hurricane on top down the stretch. Bringhurst finished with 18 points, followed by Andy Trane with 14.Nathan Nielson, San Juan's outstanding shooter, hit 19 to pace the Broncos. Nielson canned 39 points in the semifinal game Friday night against Beaver, moving the Broncos into the championship game.

Beaver captured third place, defeating North Sevier, 61-55. Richfield and North Sevier meet Monday night to determine fourth place.

Courtney Christiansen canned 22 points to lead North Sevier over Hurricane 60-55 in the girls championship game. Rachel Williams added 12 points for North Sevier. Becca Elison hit 20 points, followed by Summer Hanks with 14 to lead Hurricane.

The boys and girls state 2A championships will begin next Thursday at SUU's Centrum.
