Wasatch Junior High held off a late game surge from Jefferson Junior High and moved into a three-way tie for first place in the Granite-Pepsi Academic Games Tuesday afternoon. The final score was 114 to 86.
The teams are in the second round of the English competitions. Jefferson was undefeated throughout the math and science games, but is 0-2 in English.Churchill and Evergreen are the other two teams locked in the first place tie. Churchill defeated Eisenhower 100 to 67 on Tuesday, and Evergreen beat Hunter 113 to 76. Brockbank squeaked by Westlake 79 to 77.
The games include eight junior high schools and are designed to recognize academic achievement. The next competitions are on Tuesday, March 10. All games begin at 3 p.m. in the home team auditoriums.
