Y. GYMNASTS HIT SEASON HIGH, DROP TO OSU

BYU's 10th-ranked women's gymnastics team scored a season-high 192.40 Saturday night in Provo.

The score wasn't good enough to top a hot third-ranked Oregon State, however, which tied its school record of 194.95.The Beavers' team score wasn't the only record they set Saturday.

Sophomore Chari Knight scored the first two 10s of her career - on the uneven bars and the balance beam - the first ever hit in the Smith Fieldhouse.

The two perfect marks led Knight to an NCAA record 39.65 all-around score (the previous best was 39.60 by Utah's Missy Marlowe).

The Cougars set some school records of their own on beam, where senior Shauna Mertz broke former teammate Marianne Squires' long-standing 9.80 mark with a 9.85. The BYU team score of 48.65 on beam was also a school record, shattering the old mark of 48.20.
