The Atlanta Braves have contacted the Pittsburgh Pirates about acquiring left fielder Barry Bonds, The Pittsburgh Press reported Monday.
"There is no deal," Pirates General Manager Ted Simmons said. "I have been contacted by many teams, but I still perceive myself as being on the periphery of making a deal."Bonds batted .292 with 25 home runs and 116 RBI last season. His contract expires after this season, and he is expected to become a free agent.
