Police check the wreckage of a hang glider flown by Gary Thompson, 33, Salt Lake City, who escaped with minor injuries after crashing Tuesday afternoon. Thompson launched his hang glider from the Squaw Peak Outlook in Provo Canyon around 3 p.m. After flying above Provo for 1 1/2 hours, Thompson attempted to land in a baseball field at approximately 4320 N. 120 East. Thompson misjudged his altitude, clipped a tree and fell about 15 feet to the ground, said Provo Police Lt. Keith Teuscher. The hang glider was destroyed. Thompson slightly injured his hand and back in the accident.
