Marjorie Gallacher Peterson, age 87, passed away March 11, 1992 at her home peacefully in her sleep.
Born August 11, 1904 in Salt Lake to John James and Mary Reiser Gallacher. Married Dr. James Albert Peterson June 6, 1928 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; he preceded her in death Nov. 19, 1966, as did her brothers, John, Henry, Mark, Stuart and her sister, Anna Thackeray.She is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Barton, Salt Lake City; two sons, Dr. Verne A. Peterson, Salt Lake City; and Fred G. Peterson, Applegate, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Rodman, and Mrs. Alberta Clegg, both Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren: Mrs. Randy (Diana) Webb, Richard G. Barton, Jr., David Barton, Dr. Jeffrey H. Barton, Mrs. Randy (Laurie) Fox, Mrs. Bruce V. (Holly) Hurst, Christopher B. Barton, Mrs. Robert (Becky) Adams, John Peterson and David Peterson; 26 great-grandchildren: Jill, Bracken and Erin Webb; Brandon, Tyler, Megan, Joshua and Camille Barton; Ann, Crystal, Brad and Brett Barton; Brooke, Emilee, Brynn and Erin Barton; Lindsay, Heather, Caitlin and Garrett Fox; Ryan, Kyle and Jordan Hurst; Rochelle and Devin Adams, Chelsea Barton.
Active member of the LDS Church all of her life, she was proud of the fact that she taught Primary for 50 years. She was also active in community and civic affairs, including service as president off the Mental Health Association, and Apartment House Association. She loved genealogy and loved her association with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
"Gram" loved life and every person in her life. She was always there for everyone. She always gave everyone a loan or a job when they needed it. She loved to recite poetry and tell stories of her heritage. She had many talents including china painting, oil and water color painting, sculpture, and golf.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 1992, 12 noon, at Monument Park 11th Ward chapel, 1565 South Foothill Drive. Friends may call at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, from 6-8 p.m. Friday, and Saturday, one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
