UVCC OFFERING 3 PROGRAMS ON WEIGHT MANAGEMENT

The Utah Valley Regional Medical Center is offering three weight management, nutrition and exercise classes beginning Tuesday, March 24.

The weight-control program for adults will be held Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. in dining rooms 3 and 4 at the hospital for eight consecutive weeks. The aim of this program is to provide long-term support in weight loss. Emphasis of the program is health and lifestyle change.Cost is $75 and includes body fat percentage testing at the beginning and end of the program; $24 of this cost can be earned back through exercise, keeping food intake records and class attendance.

A weight-loss program for teenagers titled Nutrition and Exercise With Success (NEWS) for teens will begin Tuesday, March 24, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in dining room 4.

NEWS for teens focuses on establishing sound nutritional eating habits, exercise and positive family interaction to provide love and support. Classes will provide instruction on food diaries to learn about current habits, exercise, food facts, fad diets, binge eating, special occasions and non-food rewards.

Cost is $60. This fee covers the expenses of materials and also class fee for both parents and their child.
