Queen Elizabeth II bestowed royal honors on three Britons for the courage they showed during their years as hostages in Lebanon.

Terry Waite, John McCarthy and Brian Keenan were given the title of commander of the order of the British Empire in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace."Today while we're celebrating our freedom, we do particularly remember those who have lost their freedom in whatever part of the world they are," Waite told reporters.

Jackie Mann, another former British hostage, was presented with a CBE last month during a ceremony in Cyprus where he lives.
