18 KILLED IN SIKH SHOOTING RAMPAGE

Sikh militants firing automatic weapons went on a shooting rampage in the industrial city of Ludhiana in northwestern Punjab state Saturday night, killing at least 18 people and wounding six others, police said.

Police said the Khalistan Liberation Force was suspected of carrying out the attack, possibly to avenge the death of 12 of its members who were killed in clashes with the authorities during the past two days.At least 36 people, including nine militants, have been killed in Punjab state since Friday night.
