U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy announced Saturday he'll marry Washington attorney Victoria Reggie. No date was set.
Reggie, 38, is a longtime friend of the Kennedy family, the senator's spokesman, Paul Donovan, said in Boston. A partner with a Washington law firm, Reggie has two children by another marriage. She was divorced in 1990."I love Vicki and her children very much," Kennedy, 60, said in a statement. "I've known her for many years. We began dating last June, and she has brought enormous happiness into my life. I look forward to our marriage and our life together." The statement said the marriage will be later this year.
Kennedy, D-Mass., divorced his first wife, Joan, in 1982, two years after his unsuccessful bid for the presidency. He has three children, Kara, Edward Jr. and Patrick.
Reggie, reared in Louisiana, graduated from Newcomb College in New Orleans in 1976. She graduated summa cum laude from Tulane Law School in 1979, according to a statement released by Kennedy's office. Reggie is a partner at Keck, Mahin and Cate.
