POLICE PATROL GALVESTON

Police stepped up patrols after one man was shot to death and three others were wounded in what authorities called the city's worst outbreak of violence during the annual college spring break season.

A disturbance involving as many as 2,000 people and broke out Saturday evening at a park being patrolled by two officers, Police Chief Freddie Poor said. As many as 50 gunshots were heard.
