FOOD BANK STARTING PROGRAM FOR PREPARED, PERISHABLE FOOD

The Utah Food Bank is starting a prepared and perishable food program, designed to augment the non-perishable food the bank ships to more than 110 groups in Utah.

Give SOME (So Others May Eat) needs help from drivers willing to transport donated hotel and restaurant food to organizations that feed people who are low-income or homeless.The Utah Food Bank will hold an open house March 18 and 19, coinciding with the Utah Restaurant Association Convention. A short presentation on the new program and a tour of the Food Bank, 212 W. 1300 South, will be held every half-hour from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. All potential donors, recipients and volunteers are invited. Mayor DeeDee Corradini will attend March 19 from 2:30-3 p.m. For information on becoming involved, call 486-2136.
