To the editor:
How can our country be in such disagreement on an issue like abortion? Why haven't a large majority of the people been able to agree upon the best position?Part of the answer lies in the fact that both sides have some truth. Of course it's important to safeguard our freedom to do good, and of course it's worthwhile to protect innocent life.
The trick is to see which principle is generally more important, a difficult task for those blinded by selfishness. A shortcut is to consider whether abortions are generally good. One of the sides does have a sound argument, but it can only convince a person of sound perception.
