MISS INDIAN SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT IS SATURDAY IN OLD COURTHOUSE

The 13th annual Miss Indian Scholarship Pageant will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 21, in the old Utah County Court House, 51 S. University Ave.

Tickets are $2; there are no reserved seats. The Miss Indian Scholarship Pageant is unique as a preliminary Miss Utah/Miss America Pageant because it requires a girl to be able to prove one-quarter Indian heritage. That requirement sets the pagent apart from all other preliminary pageants through the nation.

Contestants will come from around the state to compete in talent, interview, evening wear and swimsuit competitions. Bart Hendrick-son will be master of ceremonies.

The American Indian Heritage Foundation offers scholarships for the contestants.
