ROBERTS, COSBY AND BROOKS HONORED BY PEOPLE'S CHOICE

The names Julia Roberts, Bill Cosby, Garth Brooks and Reba McEntire kept popping up at the 18th annual People's Choice Awards Tuesday night in Universal City, Calif.

Roberts won for best movie actress in a comedy and in a drama, while Cosby won for best male TV performer, and "The Cosby Show" was chosen best comedy.Brooks and McEntire triumphed over pop stars to win best performer awards in the general music and country music categories.

The public made "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" the favorite movie; "City Slickers" the best comedy and "The Silence of the Lambs" the best dramatic film.

"L.A. Law" was the favorite TV drama, while "Beverly Hills, 90210" was tops among young people. "Home Improvement" was the most popular new comedy series and "Homefront" the top new drama on television.

The winners were based on nationwide polls.
