FREMONT PARK OFFERS ACTIVITIES TO HELP SHED LIGHT ON EQUINOX

"Eye-opener" refreshments will launch equinox events Saturday, March 21, at 5 a.m. at the Fremont Indian State Park, followed by participants observing the effects of the sunrise on rock art panels at 6:30 a.m.

Park Superintendent Gordon Topham said an orientation is planned at the visitors center before participants travel into the canyon for the sunrise event. They may also observe the sunset there about 6:40 p.m., he added.Observations will be discussed at the visitors center following the events, and two videos will be shown about rock art and its interaction with the sun. Film will be provided by the park to record the equinox, but participants are urged to bring their own cameras.
