The Fender guitar company has honored the late musician Stevie Ray Vaughan by introducing a Stratocaster model in its signature series based on specifications Vaughan drafted.
The project had been shelved after the guitarist was killed in a helicopter crash in August 1990. It was revived with the encouragement of the Vaughan family.Vaughan's brother, Jimmie, unveiled the guitar at Fender's exhibit at a national convention of music merchandisers.
Fender also unveiled a limited-edition lithograph and posters of original artwork of Vaughan created by rock 'n' roll photographer Robert Knight and portraiture artist Jim Evans. Poster sales support the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial Fund of Dallas.
