PORTRAIT IS MOVED

The government has moved Vietnam's biggest portrait of Ho Chi Minh from the top of the state bank to a museum, saying the picture had cracked the roof and was in danger of toppling.

The 33-foot-high portrait of the smiling late Vietnamese leader, painted on a cement block, was taken down late Sunday. The painting, installed by helicopter in 1969 atop what used to be the French Banque de l'Indo-chine, was taken to Hanoi's Ho Chi Minh Museum.
