WSU DEBATERS TAKE SECOND PLACE AT NATIONAL TOURNEY IN MARYLAND

Debaters from Weber State University took second place in the Cross-Examination Debate Association Novice National Championship Tournament held March 13-15 at Towson State University in Baltimore, Md.

Freshman Lillian Recksiek and junior Dawn Daley, both of Layton, finished second to debaters from Cornell University in the final round of the CEDA championship.Recksiek and Daley defeated competitors from the University of Michigan, the University of Vermont, Louisiana State University, California State University at Los Angeles and Sam Houston State University in earlier rounds of the tourney.

Freshman Russ Rampton, Layton, also earned honors as the eighth-best novice debater in the nation.

The Weber State debate team's final competition of the 1991-92 forensic season will be April 1-7 at the National Policy Debate Tournament in Oxford, Ohio.
