Elder Boyd K. Packer, a member of the Council of the Twelve of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will speak at an 18-Stake Fireside at Brigham Young University's Marriott Center at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29.
A member of the BYU Board of Trustees, Elder Packer was called as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve in 1970 after serving nine years as Assistant to the Twelve.An educator by profession, Elder Packer served as supervisor of seminaries and institutes of religion for the church. He was also a bomber pilot during World War II in the Pacific theater.
The Brigham City native studied at Weber State College and subsequently received bachelor's and master's degrees from Utah State University and a doctorate from BYU in educational administration.
KBYU-FM (89.1) will delay broadcast of the fireside until 9 p.m., and KBYU-TV (Channel 11) will broadcast it the following Sunday, April 5, at 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. Elder Packer's topic is reverence and revelation.
