U.N. TARGETS FIGHTING

The commander of the U.N. peacekeeping force in Yugoslavia has sent an appeal to Croatian and Serbian leaders to stop cease-fire violations that could delay the full deployment of his troops.

Lt. Gen. Satish Nambiar, chief of the force, asked Tuesday that "the authorities in Belgrade and Zagreb undertake all necessary measures to bring an end to the cease-fire violations that in some areas have intensified in frequency and seriousness in recent days," said Fred Eckhard, a U.N. spokesman.
