LAND DISPUTE RESOLVED

India announced a solution Thursday to a major problem with Bangladesh over a tiny piece of land that has plagued relations between the two since the birth of the latter country in 1971.

Foreign Minister Madhavsinh Solanki told parliament India would give Bangladesh a permanent lease on a narrow corridor of territory to link the nation with two enclaves surrounded by India.The Tin Bigha corridor, 460 feet long and 115 feet wide, will be leased to Dhaka starting June 22, Solanki told parliament.
