Carol Mary Horsfall Dunn, age 93, prominent church and civic worker and Tooele's Mother of the Year in 1974 passed away Tues., March 24, 1992 in Bountiful, where she has made her home with her daughter and son-in-law.

She was born Feb. 4, 1899 in Salt Lake to Charles Edward and Mary Brower Pettit Horsfall. She graduated LDS High School and the University of Utah with high honors. She was an exemplary grade school teacher five years in Salt Lake. She married Alex F. Dunn, June 27, 1922 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They resided many years in Tooele. He died March 29, 1964.She moved to Salt Lake in 1984 and to Bountiful in 1987. She was an excellent hostess for her husband who was Tooele Stake President for 20 years, and often assisted in their newspaper publishing business. As a lifelong member of past president of the Federated Women's Club of Tooele she represented it for 30 years on the Legislative Council. She was vice-chairman of the Tooele Republican part, served on a Federal Grand Jury, and was first runner-up to Utah's Mother of the year in 1974. Honors were given her for war bonds and rationing, she organized the first PTA in Tooele and was active in the LDS church, holding positions in the ward and stake MIA, Primary and Relief Society boards.

She is survived by two sons and daughter,

Elder Loren C. Dunn (Sharon) First Quorum of Seventy, Salt Lake City; Joel J. Dunn (Jackie), Tooele; Carolyn (Frank B. Newman), Bountiful; 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by brothers: I. Owen, Edward and Kenneth.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Sat., March 28, in the Tooele 4th Ward, 192 West 2nd South, Tooele. Viewing will be Fri. evening, March 27, from 6-8 p.m. Bountiful Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful. Also, two hours prior to services at the Tooele 4th Ward. Interment, Tooele City Cemetery.
