`FLOATING' CLASS TO FOCUS ON COLORADO RIVER

For those interested in the history of the Colorado River Plateau, a unique "floating" class will be offered by Southern Utah University July 15-20.

"The San Juan River Canyons: People, Story, Environment" will offer two academic credits in ARLE 492 for participants in a six-day class/float trip on the tributary of the Colorado River. The class will be taught by James Aton, associate professor of English at SUU; the river trip itself will be conducted by Canyon River Co. of Cedar City.

Participants in the trip must make their own travel arrangements to meet at Bluff, San Juan County. Canyon River Co. representatives will shuttle all vehicles to the Clay Hills take-out point. The $650 cost of the trip covers meals, river equipment and shuttling vehicles from put-in to take-out points, Aton said. An additional $20 fee is required to record course credit.

A $100 deposit is required by June 1 to secure a space on the float trip; deposits should be sent to: Canyon River Co., 512 Bristlecone Drive, Cedar City, UT 84720.

For additional details of the float trip, call Kay or Sue Harris at 586-0779. For additional information on the course, contact Aton at 586-7838.
