Deseret Book Friday launched the grand opening of its new store in the Sugarhouse Shopping Center, 2274 South 1300 East, the 26th in the Deseret Book chain.
Roger K. Toone, vice president of retail, said the new store occupies 2,400 square feet in the new shopping center, just southwest of the Nordstrom Rack store."We are excited to be in this new center, it's going to be a winner," said Toone. "We've been open 10 days and sales have been quite good. The evening traffic is terrific."
The store carries a complete line of LDS books, video cassettes, genealogy supplies and related items, as well as general interest books for adults and children.
The new store has 10 employees. Roger Dean, most recently manager of the Deseret Book in Denver, is the new manager. Dean has been with Deseret Book for seven years and has also worked at the Ogden and Logan stores.
During the grand opening through April 11, the store will have balloons, drawings and giveaways, said Toone. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and closed Sunday.
