VIRGINIA EARNS A DATE WITH STANFORD

Heather Burge and Dawn Staley sank all but one of Virginia's second-half field goals to lead the top-seeded Cavaliers to a 70-58 victory over third-seed Women's tourneyed Vanderbilt in the NCAA East region championship game Saturday at Charlottesville, Va.Virginia (32-1) will travel to Los Angeles to play Stanford in the Final Four.

Burge scored 28 points, including 10 points in a decisive 14-2 run late in the game.

Stanford 82, Southern Cal 62

In Seattle, Molly Goodenbour scored 22 points and Christy Hedgpeth added 21 as No. 3 Stanford defeated No. 23 Southern Cal in the NCAA West Regional championship game.

Stanford, which beat Southern Cal in the teams' two meetings during the regular season, was in control almost from the opening tipoff.

W. Kentucky 75, Maryland 70

In West Lafayette, Ind., Liesa Lang broke a tie with 1:56 left and sent No. 15 Western Kentucky on to a 75-70 victory over eighth-ranked Maryland that put the Toppers in the NCAA women's Final Four.

Western Kentucky (26-7), winners over defending champion Tennessee Thursday night, move on to Los Angeles as the Mideast champion.

SW Missouri St. 94, Mississippi 71

In Boulder, Colo., Southwest Missouri State extended its winning streak to 21, boosted by 16-point efforts by Karen Rapier and Charity Shira, and beat Mississippi in the NCAA Midwest Regional Finals.

The 10th-ranked Lady Bears' upset of fifth-ranked Ole Miss earns Southwest Missouri State a berth in the NCAA Final Four tournament April 4-5 in Los Angeles.
