DEAN EMERITUS AT USU RECEIVES SERVICE TO DAIRY INDUSTRY AWARD

Doyle J. Matthews, dean emeritus at Utah State University, received the 1992 Service to the Dairy Industry Award at the recent Dairy Farmers of Utah convention in Ogden.

Matthews is a teacher, researcher and livestock judge and conducts extension programs with businesses.The industry organization also honored Junius Peter Baird of Morgan with its 1992 Oldtimer's Award. In addition to running his own farm, Baird worked for Cream O'Weber Dairy for 35 years as a liaison between dairy farmers and the company.

The H. Ray Gibbons family received the 1992 Governor's Award, presented to the outstanding Utah dairy farming family. Gibbons runs dairies in Logan and Lewiston. His herd of 120 registered holsteins is one of the state's top herds in milk and butterfat production. He has served on the board of directors of the Cache Valley Breeders Association for 25 years.
