To the editor:

What a wonderful thing for Utah that we can have cultural events and performances like "Les Miserables." What a disastrous situation to get tickets. After trying to telephone with the "redial" function for a solid three hours, my wife sent our 16-year-old to the Capitol Theatre to purchase tickets. The article in the paper stated tickets could be purchased from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

At 7 p.m., my wife gave our son more than enough time to get home. At 9 p.m., not able to contact the theater because the telephone was shut off, my wife called the Salt Lake Police to see if they could locate him.

Even though officers were on duty at the theater, she got the run-around and they referred her to Salt Lake County because we live in that jurisdiction. It would have been several hours before he would have qualified as a missing person for the police to take action.

I was in a seminar miles away when my distressed wife called me. I left the seminar and found my son still in line. I would expect some changes before we support other functions of this kind.
