PLEASANT GROVE UPDATES DEFINITION OF A TAVERN IN ACCORDANCE WITH UTAH LAW

In a move to keep city ordinances in line with the state alcoholic beverage act, the City Council voted to update the city's definition of a tavern.

According to Mayor David R. Holdaway, the new definition includes prohibiting anyone under the age of 21 from entering any establishment considered a tavern in Pleasant Grove. Taverns must also display signs stating that malt coolers and malt liqueurs contain alcohol. The ordinance change also prohibits employees who serve alcoholic beverages from consuming alcohol while on duty."This is a process that we normally go through each year," said City Recorder Charmaine Childs.

The city attorney recommended the changes.
