4 NAMED FIRE-STATION CAPTAINS

The Salt Lake County Fire Department announced the appointment of four new station captains Tuesday afternoon.

Four firefighter/paramedics were promoted March 1, 1991, and are currently being trained in the administration offices.Rand Andrus, 14 years with the county; Jim Bacon, nine years with the county; Bill Brass, nine years with the county; and Ken Budge, 17 years with the county; were all named station captain. After this week, they'll be assigned to their stations, said Salt Lake County fire Captain Dennis Steadman.

The vacancies were created by changes and retirements, Steadman said. The new captains survived written exams, oral interviews and review boards to gain the new titles. They were tested on decisionmaking, leadership skills and technical report-writing and recordkeeping, Steadman said.
