Mikhail Gorbachev said Wednesday in Bonn, Germany, he feels like a liberated man now that he's no longer a world leader. But his wife said she hasn't noticed any difference.
"I'm a free man now. I can express myself with considerably more freedom," said Gorbachev, the last leader of the now-unraveled Soviet Union.Gorbachev's wife, Raisa, had a dissenting opinion.
"I haven't noticed you're a free man," she said.
"A freer man," said Gorbachev, correcting himself.
"Not according to your appointment calendar," bantered Mrs. Gorbachev, referring to a busy schedule in Germany that included talks with Chancellor Helmut Kohl.
It is Gorbachev's first trip abroad since the Soviet Union collapsed.
