M'Kay McGrath, the University of Utah's starting forward, will not play in Saturday's season-finale against BYU because of a severely sprained ankle.

McGrath, a 6-foot-5 senior, has been on crutches since injuring the ankle against Hawaii last Saturday."He has a second-degree sprain, which is the worst you can have," says trainer Gerald Fisher. "He's out for Saturday. We're going to try to get him back for the (conference) tournament, which would be the earliest he can play. He's probably torn at least one ligament and stretched the other two on the outside of the ankle."

Coach Rick Majerus said he is considering starting senior Barry Howard in place of McGrath.

"We'll miss M'Kay," he said. "He's a good rebounder and defender, which are the two things we do best. Plus, we lose his experience."
