MT. PLEASANT PLANS 133RD HOMECOMING

This city's Pioneer Historical Association will hold its 133rd annual homecoming and pioneer celebration on March 28.

The celebration brings hundreds of former residents back to Mt. Pleasant for homecoming. A program and lunch at the Mt. Pleasant LDS Stake Center, tours of historic sites and other activities are on the day's agenda. The celebration began in 1910, with the organization of a committee to initiate the construction of a pioneer monument that would mark Mt. Pleasant's 50th anniversary.

Money was raised, a design chosen and the Monument Bronze Co. of Bridgeport, Conn., commissioned to build the pioneer monument. Today, it stands in front of the Mt. Pleasant Public Library - a focal point in the March 23 observance.
