A.F. COMBINES 2 UNITS AT BASE IN JAPAN

As part of worldwide streamlining moves, the U.S. Air Force in Japan has combined two major units at the Yokota Air Base on the outskirts of Tokyo, base officials said Sunday.

The 475th Air Base Wing, charged with operations at the base, and the 374th Tactical Airlift Wing, a major flying command at the base, have been combined, officials said.The new unit, called the 374th Airlift Wing, will be directly responsible for all operations at the base 31 miles west of Tokyo.
