MORTGAGE FIRM NOTES 39% JUMP IN CLOSINGS

The Salt Lake County offices of Ogden-based United Savings and Bank and Western Mortgage Loan Corp. closed 1,835 mortgage loans in 1991, a 32 percent increase over the 1,390 loans closed in 1990. Loan volume for 1991 was $128 million, a 36 percent increase over the $94 million in 1990.

Loans closed in all United Savings and Western Mortgage offices in Salt Lake, Utah, Davis and Weber counties increased 42 percent from $155.8 million in 1990 to $221 million in 1991. All of the company's offices closed a total 3,221 mortgage loans in 1991, a 39 percent increase over 1990.Mary Garner, vice president of residential lending, said the company's production reflects Utah's strong economy, low interest rates and the reputation as a local servicer.
